Implementing certification opportunities

Green and Blue Futures aims to deliver social outcomes through the involvement of social economy in managing the green and blue infrastructure and in particular through the training of long term unemployed and unemployed young people. Giving training opportunities, the operators pursued several goals: the acquisition of knowledge and skills: social and interpersonal skills, basic skills and knowledge, job specific technical skills and knowledge, but also supporting professional orientation and giving a working experience.

Certification of trainees by social promotion school network

Delsamme farm is a socioprofessional integration operator who has a training section in market gardening. Within Green and Blue Futures, it improves the career paths of trainees through official recognition of their competencies by the Provincial Social Promotion School Network.

Creating value through knowledge

In Flanders, people working in the social economy sector are able to follow courses and get some attestation for acquired skills. However, these are not strongly recognized by the regular economy. This pilot aims to set up a recognised system.

Nature friendly maintenance of water buffers

In order to prevent flooding, buffers that stockpile water during heavy rain were realised. Based on conservation plans, social economy enterprises are hired for the green maintenance. This gives them a long time work perspective.

Canal College

An outdoors heritage skills training programme for young people living in Edinburgh or Falkirk. 16-25 year old volunteers, who are not in employment, education or training, complete the 14 week course on the Forth & Clyde Canal, Union Canal and at The Falkirk Wheel. The course is free to the participants.
